INTRODUCTION TO GOTHIC BELLYDANCE*
(Level 1)
In this 5-week course you will learn with JeniViva, a professional Bellydancer for 7 years and also one of the pioneers of the East Coast Gothic Bellydance Movement. Utilizing the core elements and movements of American, Egyptian, and Turkish Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, Ritual, and Theatrical Dance you will be immersed in a magical genre of fusion Bellydance.

JeniViva has created an original Gothic Bellydancer's Vocabulary entitled "The Serpentine Method©" which enables you to translate the shadow side of yourself into a sensual and sacred dance. Focus will be on proper form, building a stronger body, as well as learning how to express yourself in a safe non-competitive environment.

OPEN LEVEL CLASS (for advanced beginners and up)
This class is designed to reinforce the GOTHIC BELLYDANCE vocabulary learned in LEVEL 1: THE SERPENTINE METHOD. It is open to the public and is geared to better acquaint you with GOTHIC BELLYDANCE methodology and technique. Each 5-week Session will focus on Drilling, Proper Form, Projection and Energy Work, as well as using a GOTH PROP in your practice.

In this WORKSHOP SERIES, you will be introduced to many of the hypnotic props often used in Gothic Bellydance practice and performance. Aside from acquainting you with the specific dance prop, you will learn how to become one with it as well as how to fully utilize your prop for your own personal performance. Included in every workshop series is an original Gothic Bellydance choreography by JeniViva & CD of all music used in class.

As a special bonus, upon culmination of the last session there will be a chance perform the choreography in an after class party also known as a “Gothla.”

Please note that these workshops are geared for the Advanced Beginner thru Intermediate level Gothic Bellydancer. The workshops are intended to welcome and familiarize you with Goth-Props as well as help strengthen your physical & emotional connection to Gothic Bellydance.
